Aquaray Lighting

Solid State Lighting (SSL) refers to a type of lighting that utilises light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as sources of illumination rather than electrical filaments or gas. The term "Solid State" refers to the fact that light in an LED is emitted from a solid object - a block of semiconductor - rather than from a vacuum or gas tube, as is the case in traditional incandescent and fluorescent lamps. Unlike these traditional lighting systems however, SSL creates visible light with reduced heat generation or parasitic energy dissipation leading to greater efficiency and lower energy costs. In addition the solid state nature of LED technology provides for greater resistance to shock, vibration and wear thereby increasing its lifespan considerably to more than 5x that of traditional lamp units.

What are the Benefits of AquaRay Solid State Lighting Systems?

AquaRay Solid State Lighting Systems have so many advantages over traditional lighting systems and can be used on all types of aquarium setups, from tropical to reef tanks. When you first install an AquaRay light unit above your tank you will immediately see the main benefit of this new technology. Unlike fluorescent lamps, AquaRay lighting delivers a directed, or "point" source of light, and the passage of this light through water is comparable with what would be seen in nature under direct sunlight. In other words, visible beams of light will pierce the water and reflect the movement of the water surface, producing a more natural and eye-catching effect in the aquarium itself. Until now, this effect could only be replicated with very powerful (and expensive) light sources such as metal halides.

Sander Ozonisers

Ozone is a special form of oxygen. Normally, two atoms of oxygen form an oxygen molecule, but an ozone molecule consists of three oxygen atoms. The effects that ozone has on the biochemical course of reaction in the aquarium are based on its high oxidation power. Ozone is the strongest available oxidation agent, but is also environmentally friendly as it only consists of three atoms of oxygen and does not introduce any chemicals into the water.

Sander Certizon Ozonisers can be used in both salt water and fresh water aquariums, primarily for their germicidal ability to kill viruses, bacteria and other pathogens. They also help to improve the efficiency of biological filtration and protein skimming, by speeding up the breakdown of harmful toxins such as ammonia and nitrite.

What are the benefits of Sander Certizon Ozonisers?
• Completely new ozone technology.

• Robust electrode, made from ceramic and titanium, can be opened from the outside.

• Suitable for freshwater and marine environments.

• Can be used in aquariums and ponds.

• Makes water clear and healthy.

• Kills pathogens.

• Oxidises toxic nitrite.

• Removes yellow substances.

• Increases the oxidation power of water.

• Reduces decay processes.

• Improves efficiency of the protein skimmer.

• Increases the redox potential.

• Supports biological filtration.

Salifert Test Kits

Salifert Profi Test Kits for reef, marine and advanced freshwater aquarists are some of the most precise and accurate test kits on the market. Kits are available for all aspects of the aquarium's chemistry, covering organic and inorganic pollutants as well as valuable marine trace elements to allow for accurate dosing when additives are required. The kits feature bold colour changes and good colour comparison charts and offer quick and easy water testing. There are 16 kits in the range, and most are suitable for both freshwater and saltwater environments (unless otherwise stated).
